Join staff and volunteers in commemorating 9/11 - 20 Years Later. The Museum will host several guest lecturers speaking on the topics of memory and service in the 21st Century. The below lectures will take place in the Museum Theater and will have time for questions and answers.

Lectures are free, and open to the public. No reservation or tickets required, seating is first come, first served. Donation appreciated.

Naval Aviation in the Global War on Terror

Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 at 12:00PM:

Jennifer Bennie (a Penn State University alumna) will present on the shift of the military for a young Ensign in the Navy from before and after 9/11, including the nuance of being a woman in the military through it all. Bennie served as a combat aviator, piloting the SH60 Bravo Seahawk in numerous combat missions during her deployments to the Middle East. Her experiences included supporting NSW teams, ground combat troops, antipiracy and trafficking, and counterterrorism interdiction.

The 28th Division, Combatting Terrorism

Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 2:00PM:

MG John Gronski (Ret.), former Deputy Commanding General, United States Army Europe, and Commanding General of the 28th Division, Pennsylvania National Guard, will present on the use and evolution of the National Guard in contemporary times, with the unique mission of combatting terrorism. Highlighting the service and story of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 28th DIV, MG Gronski will reflect on his experiences as a Commander in Ramadi, 2006 for which 2/28 BCT was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation as part of their service alongside the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, in recognition of their exemplary service. Note - the Pennsylvania Military Museum is home to the 2/28 BCT Monument.
