FRIENDS' LECTURE SERIES: "DRAFTED INTO THE KOREAN WAR"
Drafted in 1951 into the US Army, Mr. James M. Wilson found himself suddenly transitioning from farm life with 9 brothers and sisters, to sleeping in a fox hole at -17 degrees during Korea’s coldest winter. Follow along on this journey as he travels for the first time on a train ride across the country, and on to a ship with thousands of seasick recruits bound for Japan. Accompanied with photos from his time there, Mr. Wilson will describe his 8 months of combat training in Japan to his time as a Mortar Gunner in the Korean War, where he earned a Purple Heart Medal.
