FRIENDS' LECTURE SERIES: "WORLD WAR I THROUGH THE EYES OF A COMMON SOLDIER"

Kenneth Redline, an Altoona boy, joined the Army to play baseball, and although he hadn't bargained for a war, he took his change of status in good humor.  After all, he was 21, single, and up for adventure.  Among the first to arrive in France in August of 1917, Ken was destined to bear witness to it all -- life in the trenches, the carnage of battle, the power of raw courage, political and military ineptitude, the poignance of brief and fleeting romance in the face of certain death and the singular bond that connects men who have fought together. Using excerpts from Dig or Die, Redline's fictionalized account of life in the uniform of the U.S. Army, his daughter and editor Judith Redline Coopey shares his adventures and insights and speculates on the lasting effect of such an experience on the rest of a man's life.

CENTRE GIVES: MAY 8 & 9, 2018

We are now just under one week away from the beginning of Centre Gives!  Centre Gives is a 36-hour online giving campaign that benefits local non-profits in Centre County, Pennsylvania.  Donations sent through Centre Gives go directly to local non-profits and qualify these organizations for a share of a $200,000 stretch pool of additional prize money.  This means that your donation goes further than any other time of the year!

While planning for Centre Gives this year, we asked ourselves "Why is the Pennsylvania Military Museum important?"  Some of our volunteers, re-enactors, and visitors answer this question and discuss what the Military Museum means to them in this video, shot during our WWII Revisited re-enactment.

DATE/TIME:  Tuesday & Wednesday MAY 8 & 9, 2018  8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
