Exploring the Armor

Take a private history tour of the outside tracked vehicles including a look inside the crew compartments.  Tour begins in the museum theatre.  Seating is limited; Reservations required. The tour typically lasts two hours.   Admission to Event: $15.00 ($5.00 with museum membership).

WORLD WAR II REVISITED LIVING HISTORY BIVOUAC

Axis and Allied living historians encamp on the grounds portraying field life in the European Theater of Operations, 1944-45.  A short history of the war begins at 12:45 p.m. immediately followed by a tactical demonstration against German opposition. Donation requested.

THE DAWN OF A WORLD FOREVER CHANGED: The 509th Composite Group & the Atomic Bomb:

On Saturday, May 25, at 3:00 pm, Museum Senior Lecturer Scott Davis will discuss the Air Group that trained for and dropped the first nuclear bomb. Admission required.

Encore Presentation! Dispatches of D-Day: A People's History of The Normandy Invasion

Historian Jared Frederick will be presenting his latest book, Dispatches of D-Day: A People's History of the Normandy Invasion. Using 1944 newspaper accounts and letters as its foundation, Frederick's book takes a fresh look at the events and emotions of the invasion, providing moving portraits of the soldiers and civilians who experienced what General Dwight D. Eisenhower called "the great crusade."

Regional Antique Automobile Club of America Chapter’s annual summer season kickoff event featuring many pre-war through modern classics on display throughout the grounds of the 28th Division Shrine Complex/PA Military Museum. $5 for on-site parking.

A CELEBRATION OF SERVICE: HONORING PENNSYLVANIA VETERANS

U.S. Army reunion and memorial service sponsored by the Pennsylvania National Guard commemorating the Pennsylvanian Citizen Soldier with a military band concert and equipment displays.  Ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m. EVERYONE IS INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO COME OUT AND SHOW THEIR SUPPORT!

CIVIL WAR ENCAMPMENT

Civil War re-enactors encamp on the grounds of the PMM, including the Civil War re-enactment group of the 3rd Pennsylvania Volunteers, demonstrating the loading and firing of artillery pieces during their annual safety training and recruitment drive.  Interested persons of all ages are invited to enlist.

FRIENDS’ LECTURE SERIES: “THE KOREAN WAR AND MODERN KOREA”

Speaker: CDR Richard L. Bigelow, USNR (ret.)

CDR Richard L. Bigelow, USNR (ret.), recognized expert on Korea and editor/publisher of “Korea Chronology”, will lead a discussion of the Korean War and how it has shaped modern North and South Korea, including a discussion of the current nuclear crisis with North Korea. CDR Bigelow has spoken on Korea and the Korean War at various military, academic and civilian venues throughout the United States.
