In accordance with the United States Semiquincentennial, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission will host an exhibition at the Pennsylvania Farm Show entitled, “The Pursuit of Freedom: Patriots & Prisoners of Pennsylvania.” The display’s mission is to educate the public about the Commonwealth’s role in both the American Revolutionary War and the Second World War. This exhibit will not only focus on famous leaders, but on four prisoners of war, including two enemy combatants. Through their wartime experience, capture, captivity, and survival, their tales will explore loss, death, and the pursuit of freedom. By examining these two transformative conflicts, that took place 156 years apart, and highlighting Pennsylvania stories within, visitors will gain meaningful perspectives about America’s founding and fortitude.
